10 Awesome Mommy & Me Classes in the Bay Area

Being homebound with a newborn might seem like your new normal, but leaving the house with your baby in tow doesn’t have to feel like a daunting task. Whether it’s a workout for that beautiful postpartum body, a music class to introduce your little one to the world of instruments or even belly dancing for a little hip action, getting out of the house with baby will benefit you both! Read on for our list of awesome Mommy & Me classes around the Bay Area that encourage one-on-one bonding time with your little one (and, not to mention, a great way to make a new mom friend or two!).

1. Almaden Valley Athletic Club’s Parent Tot, San Jose

Where: 5400 Camden Ave, San Jose, CA

Where: It’s never too early to get in the pool together! With classes for kids as young as four months old, your little fish can start getting used to the water with you right by their side. Songs and activities help foster a comfort level, and the six-to-one student-to-teacher ratio will make both you and your baby feel comfortable. Plus, with other swimmers in the same age group, everyone moves forward together in a fun way.,

Scheduling: Classes are once a week, with the option to add multiple classes.

2. Parent Tot Classes at Jamaroo, San Francisco

From the founders of Fit4Mom, this total body-conditioning workout is especially designed to have your tot by your side. Usually held at a park or big outdoor space, the class lets mamas get outside in the fresh air while also working on their postpartum body. 4. Mom and Baby Yoga at Blossom Birth, Palo Alto

5. Musical Spanish at Little Artistas, San Francisco

This weekly group lets babies play while mamas get the inside scoop on developmental milestones to support your newbie. Here, you’ll learn about topics like the importance of reading to your baby, object permanence and the timeline of babies’ mobility.

7. Sign Language at Carmel Blue, San Francisco

Your baby is crying, you’ve tried everything and you just don’t understand what your baby needs. Well, what if they could tell you? Teach your baby simple sign language at Carmel Blue’s Sign Language classes that feature various themes including mealtime, animals, colors and bedtime. 8. My Gym Little Bundles & Tiny Tikes, San Carlos

Whether your baby is six weeks or six months old, My Gym in San Carlos has a class for you. Little Bundles is the youngest class, which features music and movement exploration along with the opportunity for a casual discussion about baby development. Tiny Tykes is the next class up (for babies ages six months to 13 months), and includes stretches, songs and dances to really further mobile exploration.

9. Family Music at Little Folkies, San Francisco

Babies, toddlers and even preschool-aged kids can enjoy classes at this interactive music space. 10. Baby + Me Belly Dancing at Natural Resources, San Francisco

Here’s a new one for all you dancing mamas out there! Led by belly dancing expert Karina Castellanos-Hudgins, this class will allow you and your baby (in a carrier!) to get those hips in motion. Enjoy a fun workout with great music with your baby close as you sway, rock and dance to the music (don’t worry, no experience us necessary). If baby is too big for a carrier, then you can dance solo as your little one enjoys the studio’s play area.
