With more schoolwork and activities than we ever had in our day, kids today are busy. So why not treat them to a little pampering every now and then? These local Boston spas and salons offer treatments for kids and teens that aren’t only fun and relaxing, but may even teach them a thing or two about taking better care of their skin, hair or nails.
Beach Plum Spa at the Cape Codder, Hyannis
Where: 1225 Iyannough Road, Hyannis, MA
En route to the Cape, this “destination spa” could be a perfect excuse for an overnight getaway with a child or two. Little ones love the chocolate or strawberry manicures, complete with a lollipop at the end. Kids over 10 can join you for side-by-side massages, perfect for soothing a stiff neck or a sports injury. Just be prepared for pleas to accompany them in the indoor wave pool and year-round outdoor pool at the resort.
Girl Talk at The Spa, Newton
Where: 1149 Walnut St, Newton, MA
There are lots of local party companies that can bring a spa party to your house, but in case you’re not a fan of glitter nail polish on your upholstery, Girl Talk saves the day. They offer five different party packages and optional “diva add-ons” (we like the “make your own lip gloss” station). With online invitations, accessible via their website to seal the deal, you may feel just as relaxed planning your child’s party as you would be hitting the spa yourself (almost). This spot also offers kids haircuts and ear piercing!
Mamas ‘n’ Divas, Westborough
Almost every nail salon allows kids to hop up in the manicure chair, but Mamas ‘n” Divas specializes in making children feel as welcome as the grown-ups. For just $13, ($25 for pedicure) your child’s fingernails will be cleaned, buffed and decorated with his or her choice of carefully applied nail art.
Scooops Kids’ Spa at Great Wolf Lodge, Fitchburg

Great Wolf Resorts
Where: 150 Great Wolf Dr, Fitchburg, MA
If a six-story water slide named the “Howlin’ Tornado” isn’t really one child’s “thing,” let them chill out at Scooops Spa at Great Wolf Lodge during your next water park trip. Treatments are themed after cold treats, so expect to enjoy yummy-smelling fizzy soaks, sherbet scrubs and a rainbow of nail polish choices while reclining in a banana-split shaped “throne.” A take-home tiara tops it all off.
Snip-Its, Chestnut Hill (and other locations)
This brightly colored salon has always specialized sleek kids’ haircuts, but more recently began offering “signature spa services” at some of its sites too. Along with manis and pedis that start in a “bubbly, silly-scented” hand or foot bath, Snip-Its’ friendly staffers treat kids to facials featuring gentle products like lavender-honey cleansing foam and a cooling cucumber mask. And don’t assume only kids have the fun: multiple locations offer a “Mommy and Me” day in which you can get nail treatments and facials together.
