Are you a beach loving family not so thrilled with the crowds at many of our local beaches and don’t want to spend hours in the car getting to an out-of-town resort? You’re in luck! New York City has some pretty great private beach club options just a stone’s throw away. With amenities such as summer camp for kids, cabana rentals, and Tiki Bars, these are definitely worth considering (budget allowing, of course, because they aren’t cheap!).
SeaGate Beach Club 3700 Surf Avenue, Brooklyn, NY
Where: 3700 Surf Avenue, Brooklyn, NY
What they offer: The only private beach in Brooklyn, SeaGate’s facilities include an Olympic-sized pool, a Tiki bar, a Roman style steam bath and a restaurant. They also offer tons of supervised activities for the kids—thinking swimming, sports, crafts and story telling. Plus, the location couldn’t be better—it’s just 1.5 miles from the excitement of Coney Island and the Aquarium.
Membership options: Get a full (family of up to four adults and four children) or shared Cabana ranging from $2,795 to $5,495 as well as locker packages: one adult ($749), two adults or one adult and one child ($1,249), two adults and one child or one adult and two children ($1,699), one adult and three children ($2,449). Children under the age of five may be added to packages for $200.
Guest policies: Guest passes are available (members must be present with guests in the club) for $10 to $40 per day, $8 for children under age five.

Membership and rental options: Cabins have the option of full, half, one-third, or quarter share, with prices ranging from $720.50 to $4,195. Cabanas have the option of full or half share, with prices ranging from $3,190 to $10,262. Membership is included in the rental fee.
Guest policies: Each adult member is permitted to bring two free guests on Wednesdays. On other weekdays, guests are $12 (per adult), $6 (ages three to 15), and free for under three. On the weekend, guests are $24 (per adult) and $12 (ages three to 15). Guest parking is $7 during the week and $25 on weekends. Members must accompany their guests.

What they offer: At this Long Island club, you’ll find 300 cabanas set on 12.25 acres of white sandy beaches, plus an Olympic-sized heated pool, a wading pool for the little ones, and a sauna and steam room. There’s also basketball, volleyball, paddle ball, as well as a playground, arcade, snack bar, and restaurant with outdoor and indoor seating areas. Summer camp for kids ages two to 14, runs weekdays from June 30 to August 19 from 10:30am to 4pm ($2,000 per child, $2,100 per teen, hot lunch included); a toddler program is also offered.
Membership and rental options: Full, half, and one-third cabins and cabanas range from $2,000 to $21,300. Full unit rentals include membership for up to four immediate family memberships. Half unit rentals include two immediate family adult memberships or one adult and two juniors. Additional memberships available for adults ($400) and juniors (ages $200 for ages three to 15).
Guest policies: Members may bring guests for free on Mondays and Wednesdays (except holidays). Otherwise adult guests are $15 on weekdays and $25 on weekends, and ages three to 15 are $10 on weekdays and $15 on weekends.
